Super Garden was a one-register operation for most of its existence. Don't forget - we're talking NCR manual *kerchunk*kerchunk*ching!* registers.

It was big news when, in the early seventies, another register was added (directly across from the one pictured above) to accommodate the sudden influx of new customers. New customers? The word was out: this unlikely Mom & Pop grocery had begun turning out some of the best deli sandwiches this side of New York. Aaron had correctly anticipated that he was on a collision course with the area's large grocery operations, Giant and Safeway. He could not compete with these monsters forever, and saw the take-out deli as the answer.

He was right. The boom was on.
