S.G.; 1960's

     Super Garden in the Sixties

The exact date the above photo was taken isn't certain, but the thick Polaroid photo, the car parked on the street and the presence of the orange Washington Star delivery truck (a departed Washington institution, the Star was the city's foremost afternoon daily) would indicate the mid-to-late 1960's.

Other interesting details include the fact that Fairfax Drive had been widened from two lanes to four, causing an extra strip of sidewalk and asphalt (and allowing a fully-enclosed payphone) to be added to the store's front side, and, the church down the street seems to have added a spire somewhere along the way, noticably missing in the far-right-middle area of the 1948 photo.
